Chapter 14

Eli sat in his aunt Bernice’s Chevy Lumina outside of The Throne’s office building watching cars entering and exiting the garage. Since the day he abducted Amber from work, he’d been doing his homework on the infamous group created by Fendi. He first learned that The Throne was now run by his oldest daughter, Tammy. He also learned that Nina was the sister who handled the illegal interests while Chrissy was the killer and head of Get Money Girls, the group who supplied Shotta with drugs and protection prior to his arrest. Chrissy was also the woman who pulled the trigger. LaToya, the youngest and the most feared of the four, was the no nonsense sister.

After Amber identified Chrissy and Toya and their roles in the shooting, Eli put all of his focus on them. Now knowing their faces and individual cars, he made an attempt to learn their patterns. He needed to know places they liked to eat, where they got their hair done, anywhere they were vulnerable enough for Eli to get a good, clear shot. The sisters, however, were unorthodox in their daily activities. They never seemed to go to the same place more than once a week. He followed them home but realized the six-family building was just a decoy. The block was surrounded by hustlers all day and night, willing to give their lives to protect them. A hit on Avon Avenue, where they allegedly lived, would have been suicide. He ruled out that possibility.

The best chance he would have would be to catch them exiting the office building parking garage. This was the only routine for the two women. The garage had two exterior cameras and armed security inside of a booth controlling the traffic at the entrance. His plan was simple. He would lay in wait. When the car pulled out of the garage, he planned to block it in and unload his SKS assault rifle.

Eli had killed once that day already. After utilizing Amber for sex, information, and relieving her of what money he could, Eli no longer had any use for her. She had crossed him, just like everyone else, and she deserved the same punishment. A bullet was too good for her. Instead he drowned her in the bathtub before carrying her body into the living room, dousing the room with gasoline, and setting it ablaze. It surprised even him how much his thirst for revenge had stolen his humanity. He actually smiled as he drove away from the burning house as if he’d accomplished a good deed.

He didn’t care whether it was Chrissy or Toya he caught coming out of the garage. One of them would die. The other would live to feel the pain of that death. It would only be temporary satisfaction for Eli, but it would be the beginning of their end.
